Sharing printer Windows ke Ubuntu

Salah satu kebutuhan dalam kegiatan perkantoran adalah mencetak, dan kasus berikut adalah sharing printer Windows dengan Ubuntu.

0. Instal samba
$  sudo apt-get install samba

1. Konfigurasi smb.conf
$  sudo cp -f /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf.old
$  sudo nano /etc/samba/smb.conf
cari baris di bawah ini dan sesuaikan,

[global]
workgroup = nama_workgroup_Anda
server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu)

#### Networking ####
interfaces = 127.0.0.0/8 ip_network_Anda/xx eth0

########## Printing ##########
load printers = yes
printing = bsd
printcap name = /etc/printcap
printing = cups
printcap name = cup

[printers]
comment = All Printers
browseable = yes
path = /var/spool/samba
printable = yes
guest ok = yes
read only = yes
create mask = 0700

[print$]
comment = Printer Drivers
path = /var/lib/samba/printers
browseable = yes
read only = yes
guest ok = yes

2. Restart service samba
$  sudo service smbd restart

3. Memanggil Printing localhost
$  sudo system-config-printer
akan muncul dialog box seperti berikut,


  Klik tombol Add


  Klik Windows Printer via SAMBA, lalu klik tombol Browse


  Akan muncul nama komputer dan printer yang disharing


 Klik tombol Verify


 Tanda verifikasi printer yang disharing


 Pilih vendor printer, dalam contoh HP


 Seri printer yang akan digunakan, dalam contoh : LaserJet 1020


 Menambahkan nama printer, dalam contoh default


 Tes mencetak printer sharing


 Contoh mencetak file dan indikatornya

So, why not use Open Source?
